Bobo is on the right

Bobo

Bobo was dying. He’s not anymore. With a little help from his friend -- food -- he is robust and able-bodied and has returning to teaching. He was a recipient of our Aid for Aids project. Cary discovered him on death’s door and every day he delivered nutritious food to counter the malnutrition of Aids. Once he began to recover his health he could begin to regain his life by teaching in a make-shift shack outside his house. Teaching the orphans from the village where he lived. Orphans are often denied school due to lack of funds for shoes and books both requirements to attending state schools. He is now teaching in a community school and going from strength to strength. He has bravely announced his condition to the community and is now helping those who also have the disease and recently started a support group for fellow Aids sufferers.

His physical and psychological health have improved so noticeably that people are taking notice of the possibility of changing their destinies through healthy living. Hopefully, other people with HIV/AIDS will step forward and get proper care instead of isolating and burying themselves alive as is often the case when they face any discrimination. Bobo and his family were reunited with the help of a microloan.

Here is his gratitude: "Dear Cary, How are you? I hope you are fine now like I am going together with my family. I will always thank you and appreciate for the good things you have done to me. I owe you a lot, whatever you say I will follow because you care for people like me. Because of your help, I am better. I didn’t hesitate to call my wife immediately to come to live together again. The reason why we were living apart was because of the condition I was in. I didn’t have money to feed them and I depended on my brother who also couldn’t afford. And then you came to help me. Thank you. You will never know how thankful I am for the good things you’ve done for me. I am indeed one of the lucky people being helped which I need to appreciate very much. Many people are lacking this kind of help. You have changed my life. Many people are appreciating and happy with my lookings [the way I look]. It’s because of you why I am looking like this. Friends who ran away now they are back. My wife, she is going to stay with me now and we will care for our child together. I have both of them with me now. I sent them to my mother-in-laws because I had nothing to give them. Now we are a family again. Thank you. -- Bobo"

Jenny

When Cary first saw Jenny she was crawling on the ground outside her home. She was unable to support her children as her illness brought her literally to her knees. Her husband was helpless and desperate and had become incapable of supporting her and the children.

Cary delivered food and gave her a microloan as soon as she was strong enough to work her farm.

She used the loan to buy seed and she is now fit and supporting herself and her children. Her husband has also recovered his strength and self esteem and they work together on the farm. They are proud of their accomplishments and relative prosperity.
